"These honorees represent some of the outstanding achievers in our field," said Club President, Reggie Brady. "The entire Club is proud to be associated with them and we are delighted to recognize their years of service to direct and interactive marketing."
Each year, the Club’s past presidents gather to select a handful of individuals and a corporate honoree to receive Silver Apples. The recipients must have at least 25 years’ experience in the business, a commitment to volunteerism and leadership, and a record of vital contributions to the growth of the industry. In past years, the awards were made at a special Club luncheon in Manhattan.
This year’s event marks the 25th anniversary of the award. In celebration, the Club is planning a special Gala evening event to be held in Manhattan’s historic Hudson Theater at 145 West 44th Street. The black-tie event will take place on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.
In addition to honoring the 2009 Silver Apple award winners, The Silver Apples 25th Gala will go back in time to pay tribute to those outstanding direct marketers who have received the award over the past 25 years. The Club hopes to make this the most prominent event of the year for New York-based direct and interactive marketing professionals.
The Silver Apples 25th Gala will also serve as a key fundraising event for the Club. The organization raises money from direct marketing organizations and industry vendors to provide program support and scholarships for college-level educational programs in direct and interactive marketing. Organizers hope to raise over $30,000 for education this year through table sales and donations.
The gala will begin with a cocktail reception in the art-deco lobby of the Hudson Theater. The dinner and awards presentation will be held inside the historic theater, featuring remarks by the recipients and special guests. Ticket sales are underway and space will be limited to 35 tables. DMCNY mourns the loss of a friend and Board Member
NEW YORK, March 25, 2009 – David Nussbaum, founder and president of Direct Network Inc., died last weekend of a heart attack, according to Monica Feinstein, an account executive with his firm. He was 50 years old.
Since 2008 Dave had served as a DMCNY board member and was responsible for managing the club’s networking events. "We’ve lost a friend who loved direct marketing and who gave back to the industry with his time and dedication," said Reggie Brady, President of DMCNY. The club has made a $1,000 donation in Dave’s name to the DMCNY Memorial Tribute Education Fund.
Dave formed his company in 1994. Before that he worked for CAMA/George-Mann and Prescott Lists. He began his career as a clerk in the list brokerage department at Names Unlimited. During his tenure there list pioneers such as Stan Woodruff and Ralph Stevens were his mentors. Dave commented, "I will always be grateful to those guys. They saw something in me years ago, that I did not see myself."
When asked why he joined the DMCNY board, Dave offered: "I am very honored to be part of the DMCNY board and it’s my favorite club. It is comprised of some of the most talented, creative, generous people you will find in any profession. I only hope I can rise to the occasion."
We will miss our friend.
